The Kingdom of Munger Situated on the bank of the Ganges River in the state of Bihar is the capital city of the kingdom of Munger. Munger is a historical place often mentioned in Vedic scriptures. Duryodhana gave Karna the province of Mungir to govern. Everyday Karna distributed 42 kilos of gold from a mountain there. From that mountain there is a view of the sacred Ganges River winding through the beautiful countryside. Right on the river is the Kastharni-ghat with a very nice temple of Lord Jagannath, Baladeva and Subhadra. Whoever takes a bath there in the Ganges is liberated from the influence of pain and trouble. On a small island in the Ganges lies the Sita-carana temple. A stone with a footprint of Sita devi is worshiped there. During the advent of Lord Rama, the Lord himself spent some time in this region. Just a few miles from Mungir, there is the Sita-kund. The story describes how Sita devi wanted to cook rice for Lord Rama. Being in exile, she had no facility for cooking, but mother earth made it possible by allowing boiling hot water to appear there. The transcendental plan of Mahaprabhu was that the message of love will be distributed to the whole world. At present also from Munger Bihar, the divine message is being distributed. Inside the city of Munger is the palace constructed by Sir Raghunandana Prasada Singh. Next to the palace he built a very beautiful combined temple of Sri Sri Radha Krishna and Lord Siva. The kingdom of Munger extended all the way to the border of Nepal and into large tracts of the Jarikhanda forest. It is a beautiful tropical area with gigantic forests, jungles, agricultural fields and rolling hills.
